Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a reservation fee?
A non-refundable reservation fee of US$ 500 is required for a valid booking.
Which is the best motorcycle for my trip?
The choice of motorcycle is very individual and also depends on personal preferences. Objectively speaking, the seat height is certainly a decisive factor. Furthermore, we generally recommend a lighter motorcycle with good suspension, to provide more reserve in difficult situations. This is less of a factor on paved roads, but on the bumpy gravel roads here in the south, it can be crucial.
Do you recommend booking accommodations in advance or as I go, depending on progress?
January and February is high season in Patagonia. If you are traveling alone, you should still find accommodation at short notice. That also depends on how flexible you are. If you camp, you’ll have fewer problems. If you value upscale accommodations, we recommend booking at least two months in advance.
What are the usual terms if I’m late for accommodations or cancel due to adverse riding conditions?
The conditions of the accommodation vary greatly. Once booked, most accommodations cannot be cancelled or the money will not be refunded, especially if the cancellation is made at short notice.
I’m going to Tierra del Fuego and want to fly back via Buenos Aires. Can I change the drop-off point?
The drop-off location must be in Chile due to customs regulations. Therefore, only Punta Arenas is an option for drop-off the bike. From there you can fly to Buenos Aires via Santiago de Chile.
What do you think about trimming a couple of days by riding longer- advisable and costs?
Driving longer sections is an option. This also depends on how much time you want to plan for visiting sights. Large parts are unpaved roads where you can’t move very quickly. Strong winds can also slow you down. Stretching too long can be tiring. This also depends on your condition and your driving skills. The distance of the journey should not be underestimated. It’s worth taking breaks, otherwise the risk of accidents increases.
